Starlit Visitor

by Larry Chamberlin   Apr 17, 2019

I want to be the hero in your midnight story,
the one you whisper to yourself when the lights are out.
A horse clomps down the highway lit only by a star
lets me climb upon his back into your boudoir.

I want to be the hero in your midnight story
the one you whisper to yourself when the lights come on.
Then you see me standing there by your door
and you know I am the one that you adore.

I want to be the hero in your midnight story
the one you whisper to yourself as the covers are drawn.
Though the world would scorn your poor vaquero
now we find our glory and I am become your hero.

Loving this Larry. Think many of us would echo similar sentiment. I perhaps not so eloquently.
