Monkey Bash

by CJ Maleney   Apr 24, 2019

To some they are a novelty,
To others they are a toy,
But I find them rather sinister
And have since just a boy.

That monkey taps upon that drum!
It does not follow any tune.
I feel the rhythm that it creates
Is the impending sound of doom.

Then you take it's accomplice,
That percussion creating ape.
As those cymbals clash together
Do they compound? compress your fate?

As the cogs and springs start to relax.
As the mechanics start to slow.
Will the silence that will follow,
Be the only one you'll ever know.

They are just stuffed monkeys right?
They are little things of glee,
But some find them oh so menacing.

And one of them is me.

      Cheers Bren.

This phobia started because of a book. Think it was one of Stephen kings. In it the monkey would start playing all by itself and every time it did something sinister would happen.

Never been able to look at em the same since.
