Ruin

by Overrated   Aug 2, 2026

In restless nights,
I dared not sleep,
haunted by dreams
of what would never be.

Some ghosts are born
not of memories,
but from possibilities
still searching for a voice.

Behind hopeful eyes,
I felt promise fade into regret.
I feared the truth would undo me,
but it was the silence that ruined me.

I watched flowers bloom
in gardens that were never mine,
wondering if one confession
could have changed the season.

Your existence alone
was enough for me.
Yet my heart betrayed
everything my lips concealed.

I choked on every
I love you,
swallowing my misery
of each unspoken word.

I adored you in the quiet,
in the hush of breath and thought,
where every heartbeat echoed
what my voice refused to whisper.

I kept you there,
between desire and grief.
You never asked for my heart,
yet somehow you carried all of it.

You became my everything,
the cruelest irony—
we were nothing at all.
