Lessons taught unaware (i miss you grandaddy)

by Kia   Aug 28, 2004

Grandaddy you’ve taught me many things
You may not know it.
But you’ve taught me what love brings

You and maw-maw’s marriage is a perfect example
I know what to do when I wed
I have the perfect sample

Although there were times what were hard
You held maw-maw on a pedestal
Up there with the highest regard

I hope I can find a guy just like you
One I can have fun with
And joke and laugh too

No afraid to speak his mind
Says what he thinks
But tries to be kind

One on which I can rely
Just like you
Whose words are true; and not a lie

You family you cared for
They were you life
Apart from them, you could not be tore

I have to remember what you would say
“Don’t start none, won’t be none”
With that mindset, nothing can stand in my way

I’ve learned not to miss out
Cuz like you say “you snooze you lose.”
It’d be my fault, and I could not pout

If I take what I have learned with me
Who knows what this life has in store
Who knows what I could be

So Grandaddy, what I have learned I will take
With all the lessons, you never knew you taught
Of my life, something I will make

This one looked like you forced some rhyming. You don't have to rhyme. Yes it's fun to rhyme, just look at all my poems. They all rhyme. But you don't have to. If your forcing it then it doesn't sound as natural and as flowing as a poem should. The poem has a good message behind it though. It shows you respect your grandparents marriage and them as people. Good job. kilman = David B.

That was incredible...Some times theres little things family members say...That normally you don't think anything of...but when they are gone you think of times you talked to them and what they said and you say damn...he was telling me something. You are an awesome writer....Keep it up
