Things Of Rope

by Kevin   Nov 15, 2004

I was fool enough to ask
but then cool enough to bask
in the white hot light of illumination

in it's beam I was tanned
got some ignorance banned
at the price of testing friendship

these bonds of love and circumstance
that I freely tugged and strained
began to tear without much flare
as I watched on
dimly pained

and only when the bonds did snap
did I at last reach out
to save love falling
I felt my inner selfishness
a code of conduct most appalling

"You must insist on forcing lessons"
a friend remarked
hearing of this tale
"If you know the voyage
and do set sail
you\'d be a fool to board the ship
and fail"

This is about wishing for experiences, and then when you get them, they turn out to be almost more than you can handle, and they put pressure on your friendships...

But in the end it's all worth the effort.
