Were The Lost Generation

by Hailey   Nov 27, 2004

Were The Loss Of This Generation
Where The Kids Who Cant Cry
Where The Teenagers On The Streets
That Leave The World Wondering Why

Where The Kids Who Work
In Every Place You Go
Doing The Jobs No-one Wants
For Less Than You'll Ever Know

Where The Victims Of Rape
To Where Justice Never Met
Where The Faces The Court Never See's
The Law Would Rather Forget

Where The Drug Dealers On The Street
Because Were Lost Without A Way
Were The Scum Of Society
Who Always Have To Pay

Were The Child Of A Mistake
With No Mum To Be Found
A Deadbeat Drunk For A Dad
Who's Never Around

Were The Flaw Of The System
That No-one Wants To Help
Were The Kids You Don't Want
Left To Rot On A Shelf

Were The Drop Outs From School
With No Piece Of Paper To Say Qualified
Were The Kids You Gave Up On
You Said You Tried But You Lied

Were The Babies Having Babies
With No Father Or Support
We Keep Adoption Agencies Filled
Fell Pregnant Cause We Weren't Taught

Were The Generation You Hate
The Kids You Made This Way
We Do All These Things
Because You Pushed Us Away

We All Gave Up
Because You Gave Up On Us
We Prayed And We Prayed
But You Lost Our Trust

Were The Kids You Put To Rest
And All I Can Say
Were All Only Like This
Because You Guys Didn't Stay

Hi, I mainly just read poems, vote but hardly ever write comments, but with your poem I had to comment. Im serious, this poem actually gave me the shivers it was so correct. You are an excellent poet... keep up the fantastic work!
