You or my country

by !*!Zoe!*!   Nov 27, 2004

You ask me if I love you
And I turn my face away,
You re-ask the question,
And I know there’s Hell to pay.

You gently touch my cheek,
And pull my face to yours,
You ask me if I’m serious,
About enlisting in the corps.

I say I’m leaving soon,
You want an exact date,
I tell you I’m not sure,
But I have to pull my weight.

The tears stand in your eyes,
I can’t take it anymore,
I know you don’t understand,
'Cause of your feelings of war.

I must go take the tests,
To see if I am fit,
I'll defnitely miss you,
That's something I'll admit.

I know I won’t regret it,
Please know that I love you,
Understand this is for my country,
This is something I must do.

I will leave you now,
When things are out of whack,
I’m going to say good-bye,
Knowing I won’t come back.
