Nation's Facade

by vanessarrr   Dec 9, 2004

That’s what they say but what really happened?
Have the facts been altered, or maybe even softened?
Is it too darn drastic to be put on newspapers?
If I ask them these things, would I even get answers?

Is telling the truth really that big of a task?
I might be too young, but sorry I gotta ask.
I know that it’s vital to make us feel safe and nice.
But pieces and bits would just never suffice.

I’m not trying to sound smart, I’m not brave-may I add.
I just had to shout that I sense a façade.
Please don’t just agree or challenge everything I say.
My poem ends here, but I won’t stop today.

AUTHOR'S NOTES: i was reading the newspapers and articles about iraq. it's a short piece but the poem wrote itself.

i like the poem as a piece even if i dont agree with the idea. i feel that the government has an obligation to lie to the people, to a degree. the poem was good and well written. talk to ya later.

Another wonderful poem, and not just from the message, but the structure and the way you deliver the content.
