Beckoning

by N J Thornton   Dec 12, 2004

Golden sands lay under foot
Picking up a pebble
To skim across tranquil waters
The sun catches a shimmer
In my eye and carries my mind
To another world

A place of beauty
Where light of day reflects
A world of coral blue and sea green
Signs of life, multicoloured
Smothered in a breath of the earth
Swimming tenderly

Creatures gentle essence
Only imaginary in our world
New life, a wild aquarium
Oblivious to the dreamy surroundings
Dreamt of my many
In an almost parallel world

Shared universe, and earth
The hands of the ocean
Move the soothed families on
Humming a gentle lullaby of hope
Calming the frantic energy from above
Cooling the heat from below

Seeing distant life become familiar
The serene fingertips and voice
Of the liquid diamond paradise
Lift me with a slight modest force
Spinning, up, up, and away
Flying on the wings of the air

Feeling the breeze of the evening
Through my softened hair
The sun sets over the horizon
The golden sand flows below
The ice blue ocean bids farewell
Skimming the pebble, I make my way home

Very good poem. I really like the imagery and the calm, relaxing mood this poem puts me in. I always do enjoy nature poems :)

Your poems are always so descriptive. They catch people right from the sight with their words and then let us imagine how we would see it as well. Don't want to repeate myself, though :)

This is a most soothing piece, my dear Silver. The poem is incredibly original and beautiful, as all of your other work is. I am in awe! You are truly talented, and are evidently a noble soul. Well done on this poem!
