Lies

by Lauren   Dec 22, 2004

I could swear I never loved you,
I could swear I never tried,
I could swear that I hate you,
I could swear I'm satisfied.

I could swear you mean nothing,
I could swear I am enraged,
I could swear you are my enemy,
I could swear you haven't changed.

I could swear I am exhausted,
I could swear that I am done,
I could swear I'm not lonely,
I could swear that you have won.

I could swear I am confident,
I could swear a compromise,
I could also swear I'm happy,
But the "swears" are all now lies.

very nice poem, well-written and thought out. repitition makes for a strong sense of learning from the past. "i could" is an eliquent term for "i have" if u ask me. hope to see more progression
