Man in the moon

by DestinyAwaits   Jan 4, 2005

The end of the day has come,
As the once blue sky grows dark.
I want to go back to my childhood,
As I sit on the swing at my old neighborhood park.

I cry to the man in the moon,
The one who listens to me at night.
Never to tell my secrets to a soul,
His tender touch of comfort being the moonlight.

Will you take my pain and sorrow,
Make all my wishes come true.
You’re the one thing that never goes away,
The only one I can count on is you.

Going back to the nights when I was young,
I stared at you until you were out of sight.
Wanting to have everything be just fine,
With warmth and love I felt safe in your moonlight.

Growing up wasn’t so easy for me,
The thoughts of physical and emotional abuse branded in my memory.
Hearing the booming of loud voices,
To a child a nightmare oh so scary.

With fear in my heart I tried not to cry,
You were my security blanket wrapped around me tight.
On one could touch me when I dreamed,
Dreams of dancing with you in the moonlight.
