God Bless Us All

by Cantchangeme   Jan 11, 2005

One man stands by the warmth
Of the cold winter snow
He watches lives being formed
Then he watches them go
A cup of coffee in his hands
He asks of life today
I came to ask of his wisdom
But winter took him away

So god bless you all
Does he reward good behavior
I'll just keep myself
And you can keep your Saviour

A newborn baby lies in his bed
And my stomach churns
His palms not crossed with silver
But cigarette burns
His dad and mam had an accident
Unintentional life
Even if this child survives now
Think of his strife

So god bless you all
Does he reward good behavior
I'll just keep myself
And you can keep your Saviour

A woman sitting alone in a bar
Downing life's dregs
She dreamed of great grandeur
Now of beer kegs
Her Angels they used to sing
Angels sing no more
Maybe she deserves all this pain
Heavens little law

My angels sing no longer
To many chores
Can you heal your wounds
Your open sores
Life now has you crawling
On all fours
This isn't my idea of heaven
Is it yours
