Black Man Standing

by Xtasy   Jan 13, 2005

The unkind words
The shattered hearts
The caged black birds
Who fell apart

The harsh abuse
The wounded brave
We just want truce
Not one more slave

But one black man standing
Who had a dream
Who kept on demanding
To let freedom ring

Our hearts poured out
To what he said
Out triumphant shout
For the blood we shed

We marched for his dream
For the freedom of blacks,
Reds, whites, and creams
For these are the facts

That man was fighting
That fight that?s past
To God almighty
We're free at last!
