Hear my call (winner)

by Erica Brown©   Jan 13, 2005

A smile was stolen,
But the thief is undefined.
Eyes puffy with a throat swollen,
Who is the possessor of my mind?

Everything used to be exact,
But now when I look in the mirror,
I can now see for a fact,
That tears are approaching nearer.

Eyes are beginning to blur,
As I pour the cream in my coffee.
But as I was about to stir,
My reflection did not equal me.

Gone, missing, out of place,
I can no longer sleep.
Knowing that this is not my face,
It's not something I want to keep.

Bloodshot eyes from so many tears,
Invisible scars that can only be seen by me.
Jumbled memories summarizing these wasted years,
What made me become what I did not want to be?

Where did all those unforgettable days go?
What happened to the smile plastered onto my face?
Sadness was supposed to be a secret and never show.
I was never supposed to be in this miserable place.

The truth is replaced with lies,
The smile is replaced with a frown.
I got clouds when I wanted clear skies,
I went up when I wanted to go down.

It ate me away destroying me little by little,
All that’s left is a girl beating herself up inside,
With two sides being split with an invisible line down the middle.
And there is no where for me to go, or to hide.

Problem is I know who caused this,
Someday I will admit it was you.
But once before you were such bliss,
Just stop stalling and finish me off like you planned to do.

Please take it away,
Dispose of it all.
My feelings, this day,
Please hear my call.
