Of The Apple

by FTS Miles   Jan 25, 2005

There are two axioms,
Each well-respected,
That speak volumes of
Our conflicted humanity:
Knowledge is power…
Power corrupts.

Can it be that the holistic
Acquisition of knowledge
Projects one's soul into
Perilous demesnes, or
Injects the spirit with the
Venom of the proverbial
Serpent of Eden fame?

Yet can one be wise sans
Knowledge of the myriad
Intricacies of existence?
Must one be condemned
To servile ignorance
For one to be "saved"?

How can one deny the
Magic terror sublime beauty
Adrenaline passion of
Life, hate, strife, death,
Sex, love, sorrow, remorse,
Fear, faith, courage, hope,
Despair and glory,
Isolation, anonymity,
Innocence, damnation,
Seduction, repulsion,
Physical ecstasy,
Spiritual rapture?

Must one come to master
The material of life to
Prove a soul’s ascendance?
Or is it enough to "faithfully"
Hide from spiritual test
And hope for the best?

    Brilliant!
How do you do it? you take these concepts and values and write your heart out onto them which produces these exotic format of words transformed to beautiful symbols and meaning.
i really admire this, your comparisons were exotic and powerful. i love that you expressed your views over the concepts while adding thorough and detailed poetic structure.
    i especially admire the lines,

    "How can one deny the
    Magic terror sublime beauty
    Adrenaline passion of
    Life, hate, strife, death,
    Sex, love, sorrow, remorse,
    Fear, faith, courage, hope,
    Despair and glory,
    Isolation, anonymity,
    Innocence, damnation,
    Seduction, repulsion,
    Physical ecstasy,
    Spiritual rapture?"

I believe you to belong among the Greeks Miles ;)

I lovely tell of light and dark, and all the other synonimous paradigms.
