Sunshine

by SweetDreamer   Jan 25, 2005

I watch you lie there,
with your intense gaze upon me,
I wish I wouldn't have to see your eyes,
they're the ones who say the goodbyes,
even though you've lived your life, your spirits too young to die,
your soul is still strong, and your mind is sharp!
...but I know you can hear God strumming your harp,
the sickness gave us no warning,
no alarm, that would give us the time to hide,
there was no way for you to run,
death was growing tired of the chase, it knew you had had your fun,
you were dealt your share of trying times, but the years had been good,
you had such a caring family, and they gave you all the love they could,
but I know I was your sunshine,
you told me my smile was enough to brighten your dreary days,
with me your love was apparent in so many ways,
No matter how many years go by, No matter how many times the memories will make me cry, Nanny I love you,
and you were my sunshine too
