Missing You

by John   Jan 28, 2005

I sit staring at your eyes,
Smiling at me from a picture
That my mind easily falls into.
I step back into that night,
A room above the city,
Happy, hand in hand with you
Talking, laughing,
Being so proud to be the one your smile was for.
Being with you that night
Like every other
Removed all life's problems for a while,
The only evidence of a world around us
Glowed up from city lights below,
Drawn to a point on the horizon
As my eyes and my heart
Are drawn to you
That night and forevermore...
A sigh wakes me from my daydream,
My smile still broad,
Until remembering the cruel distance that
Now lies between us
For what now seems will be an eternity.
Godspeed and be safe my love,
My open arms long for your return.
These memories of our times together
My companion
Easing slightly the emptiness I feel
While I wait for your return.
