For The Boatman

by Kevin   Feb 2, 2005

I went low
mostly alone and content with things
yet Butterfly ways show
touching always harms the wings

I sympathize with such a wanting
in knowing you love to travel
but trails of cause to me are daunting
for you
nigh impossible to unravel

that unknown Islands need not grow frowns
even when observed from the shoreline
content then be in surrounding towns
avoid the journey's tolls that are mine

Cheers friends...but you're wrong about the "s" in harms....

I love this poem alot. Not many people could write something so poignant that is also so short and leaves a firm impression like this.

    yet Butterfly ways show
    touching always harms the wings

This part got to me, I couldnt really tell you why, but it is so true and I have never seen someone map out the concept so well in a poem- great job, yet again.

    Loves, K

I completely know the feeling, Kevin. Wonderfully well-stated.

And good luck with the situation, by the way. Always caused just a wee bit of stress in my relationships, though it was always easily smoothed over.

Thanks pink, it's about how every few months i need to hibernate emotionally away from people and just be still, without being depressed, and, how hard it is to do that when you live with a girl who loves you and just wants to help.

Beautiful. I really like how you wrote this, the comparisons and relations you made between the symbols were wisely written not to mention intriguing while adding a consistency of lovely thought.
    I really liked the lines,
    "yet Butterfly ways show
    touching always harms the wings"
I really liked the symbols you used to express the meaning behind them in those lines.
    Well done
