A Goddess Such as You

by Daniel Goding   Feb 21, 2005

How came I, hand in hand,
With a goddess such as you
While others store off
With empty hearts and empty hands,
Those who wished,
Whished for that one who they could call theirs
That one who they could love
Forever and ever till death do they part,
That one person,
That would take them off into internal bliss
How could I have thrown so much away,
With a single action...
How could I have passed such an opportunity by,
by being so stupid
I went back so many times
Until I figured out why
I never knew how much I loved you
Until I had lost you
Until I had lost what was dearest to my heart
I felt like I was being torn in half
My breath quickened
My heart beat raced
While my body quivered faster than both,
The only thing I had to stop myself
From breaking apart inside
Were memories we once shared
Memories I thought I never had
Every station I tuned into
Seemed to be ranting that song
That song you once sang to me
That song I had hardly listened to
Although now I wished I had
For now I am affected by it
And know its meaning, sadly
I hope the pain you suffered
Wasn't as painful as mine is now
And wish your forgiveness for it,
Do you remember what you once told me
"If you love me, as much as I love you
Nothing will stand in our way
Nothing will stop us from being together
No matter how far apart we are
Love will bring us together"
Now you tell me, does that love still stand.
