Through Sands And Sands

by Kevin   Feb 25, 2005

Taken to remote viewing
interrupted by meals on wheels
or the bare necessities maybe
colourless and stalking
just everybody passing by passing
because it's all by and gone
some classic memory causing song
classically fading away as all is
shame to be left with just this
a window frames a still beating heart

This poem reminds me of my grandmother. She would just sit there looking at the traffic , and people for hours. Never saying anything. Just letting the world pass her by.

I really liked this. An odd subject for a poem but it turned out great, thus displaying your poetic skill. i liked how you stated your symbols through life's ongoing observations and routines,
    "Taken to remote viewing
    interrupted by meals on wheels"
And you were able to write them into a poetic structure that was intriguing and well put, i liked that. I also admired the lines,
    "just everybody passing by passing
because it's all by and gone
    some classic memory causing song"
i think you were really able to sum up the main idea of the piece into just those lines, and it created an understandable outlook to the reader of the work. My favorite line was,
"a window frames a still beating heart"
i loved that line, it added an unexpected beauty to the piece without wandering away from the former text, Well done

Cheers guys. I was travelling home on a bus a while back, and one of the houses i passed had this ghostly old woman staring out of a window...she looked like she'd been there for a very long time...I wrote the poem in about 2 minutes.
