You Never Listened

by Unseen Exposure   Mar 27, 2005

I could spill my heart and all its insides onto paper
And you'd never even notice.
You'd continue to walk over the shards of this life.

I could squeeze out the blood from my dead skin;
And stain your clothes with my pain
But you'd just change your shirt.

I have a million words to say to you
But none that would get through.
Not for lack of effort-
Or lack of confidence
But for lack of a giving ear.
So don't tell me that I never tried.

I screamed until I was blue in the face
With neglect and anger.
You put your earplugs in;
Tighter.

I cried until night's ceiling collapsed
And the sun dried my cheeks.
You slept through the torment;
Silently.

And slowly, I stopped breathing.
And slowly, I gave into the darkness.
And slowly, I faded away.
And slowly, I died... slowly ... slowly.

A million words I threw at you
For the million times you never listened.

-- ^ Just me rambling. Complaining. All that good stuff.
