Whispers

One night I awoke
And saw her cross my grave
A light in the dark
I sat and watched her pray

I asked her what was wrong
And she sat with me
She said the world was blind
Only she could see

I saw her dream
Of dreams she never dreamt
She asked of her life
And what it all had meant

She then slowly showed me her scars
The hurt of today
I asked her to please tell me why
Then she moved away

Then she saw mine
She came back and sat by my side
She asked me why
And then I quietly sighed

She told me all about her life
How her mam had died
How her dad had blamed her
And of his suicide

I saw her slowly leave
On that cold winters night
My soul can’t rest
And never since that sight

One night I awoke
And saw her cross my grave
Now matching scars
Took both our lives away

Now every single night we talk
Sitting by her grave
Maybe you’ll hear us whisper
Or join us someday
