The Dreamer in Me

by Tainted Butterfly   Apr 1, 2005

Many people wanted to kill my dreams
Wanted them dead and gone.
The dreamer in me still was a fighter
Forever trying to live on.

Though most days were so gray
I couldn't see the sun was shining
The dreamer in me never gave up
In the search for a silver lining.

Though most days I would sit around crying.
Forgetting what it was like to smile.
The dreamer in me still believed
My time would come in a while.

Most tried to sell me short
Said I would never make it.
The dreamer in me kept on trying
Knowing full well I could take it.

Sometimes people will throw you down.
Say your dreams are not good enough.
The dreamer in you can take it all
Though the road can be really tough.

Though many thought that I was weak.
At me they got a laugh.
Yet the dreamer in me kept on
Letting my heart direct my path.

People who have no dreams
Have no clear driven purpose
Dreamers believe and hope in things
Never give up scratching the surface.

Dreams will come and dreams will go
But always remain true
To the dreamer that believes and hopes
The dreamer that lives in me and you.
