16 years without you

by No Motiv?   Apr 3, 2005

(I've lived 16 years without my father....and now we've rekindled a lost relationship. It took awhile for me to accept the idea of allowing him to be a part of my life...he was very abusive and absent in my earlier childhood. I grew up with a man that never loved me....but now after therapy he has seemed to pull through)
----

Look at me
father, I missed you so
the countless tears-
you'll never know

father, look at me...
I have grown so tall
Throughout the years,
You have missed it all

Look at me...
I am your joy, your pride-
Would you still be proud-
If you saw how I cried?

Please, look at me-
These changes have saved us-
I have healed the wounds
From broken trust

Father, love me...
I am proud to call you mine
I will take you back,
On the turn of a dime

Father, I love you...
How I missed you so!
It hurt when you left,
Where did you go?

Father, you're back,
And here to stay-
Kiss me goodnight,
For my every last day

Father, we're gonna make it
We're together today
Sixteen years without you,
Now I'll be okay
