Scared of the Dark

by Fig   Apr 21, 2005

Liquid darkness flows around
Twitching in the air
Flowing on the wooden ground
Black and silken hair

Hiding in the night-time tendrils
Hunting for the fear
To crush your dreams to silver dust
Or a shaking tear

Wait for the creature to appear
It crawls into the room
It draws itself close to your bed
Reeking of the doom

Your face is turned against the wall
You don’t see it emerge
But feel the evil soaking in
Feel its hatred surge

It reaches out a decayed hand
And slowly strokes your cheek
And then it flees the freezing room
New horrors now to wreak

It comes back to you every night
And gently strokes your head
It freezes heat and darkens light
And drains you ‘till your dead
