And Then It Hurt

by Unseen Exposure   May 1, 2005

I used to convince myself that it didn't hurt to breathe
Until you came along
And then it hit me like a poisoned arrow through the heart
It hurt- It hurt- It hurt

I screamed like a child frozen in the womb
Kicking my way out from the tainted skin
I opened wide to take in the air
But it hurt- It hurt- It hurt

Like a cat stuck in a fox hole with its tail between its legs
I was afraid
Afraid to move
Afraid to look

Looking in the mirror
Searching for a reflection I don't possess
I smashed it with my fists
It hurt- It hurt- It hurt

And then I met you
Don't feel complimented, baby
And flattery isn't the word
The day you came along
I knew it hurt
It hurt- It hurt- It hurt

I'm just here to remind you
And it hurts- It hurts to say this
But don't forget to feel, to breathe and most importantly;
Don't forget to hurt.

    I really liked this.
Your rage and pain is posessed in the piece and I loved the repetition "it hirt-hurt-hurt"
And the description of "hurting to breath..."

    i loved your metaphors. Especially,
"I screamed like a child frozen in the womb
Kicking my way out from the tainted skin
I opened wide to take in the air"

    and
"Like a cat stuck in a fox hole with its tail between its legs
    I was afraid
    Afraid to move
    Afraid to look"

You display fear so, so well in those symbols and I really admired them.
    Well done

(p.s. this shouldn't be a 1, someone is stalking you)
