Young hearts

by Erica Brown©   May 20, 2005

Out of all the people
In this small world
A new encounter happened
For a month I doubted
That it would last
For it was so different
So incredibly new
As so were you and I
And as February passed
So did our strange lives
Past our impossible connection
Sadly it was true
Our hands and eyes were dead
Yet our minds and hearts lived
Your last words were
“Promise you’ll wait for me,
As I promise to wait for you.”
So each day I stuck to
You
Got in trouble because of
You
Waited for hours, minutes
Weeks, days and years for
You
Realization has led to black hearts
My spirit has been robbed
Nothing left to spare
Feelings I wish brought happy memories
Gave nothing but sorrowful dust
Refusal that you will reconnect
That our eyes will open again
One thing has come to conclusion
Young hearts should never be broken
