Not The Average Girl

by Amanda Bee   May 21, 2005

I’m not the average girl
Nope, I follow my own tune
While other girls prefer the sun
You’ll find me shooting for the moon

When you see me from a far
You’re sure to know it right away
From the clothes that I wear
To the uncommon words that I say

I’m not the average girl
I sing a different kind of song
While some girls prefer short skirts
You’ll find I always wear mine long

Rather than a bold display
I prefer a sense of modesty
I believe in happily ever afters
I believe in the power of honesty

I’m not the average girl
Not one to fret about my looks
While other girls are concerned with boys
You’ll find my nose right in a book

While some girls want diamonds rings
And are able to talk on the phone for hours
I’m satisfied with the simple things
Just give me a handful of wild flowers

Oh no, I’m not your average girl
In fact I’m as different as can be
From my religion, to my style,
To my oversensitivity

I know exactly who I am
And I wouldn’t trade that for the world
So confident, so unconventional…
I love being a not so average girl
