I Remember...

by Ashley   May 29, 2005

Not many memories come to mind
because we weren't together most of the time.
These simple visions mean so much,
especially when it's just the two of us.

Some are good, some are bad,
some make me cry, some make me mad,
some make me laugh, or maybe just a smile.
Those moments I wish I could stay for awhile.

I remember eating crabs on the picnic table.
You'd crack them for me since I wasn't able.
I remember in the lawn we'd lie
making shapes out of clouds in the sky.

I remember how you taught me
to start with the end puzzle pieces.
do the outer parts first,
then work toward the middle.

I remember before work you'd play a game with me
and we'd dance to music, it made me happy.
I remember we made that gift for daddy.
He didn't like it, that picture of him and me.

I remember I left you to go babysit.
I went with mom-mom, you had a fit.
It didn't mean I didn't love you,
because if I could take it back, I'd have stayed home too.

In my head, I hate seeing you go into the liquor store.
I would have stopped you but I didn't know before.
I was too young to understand it.
I didn't know what you were going to commit.

I'd give up everything to have you back again
and to keep you I'd do anything I can.
I love you so much mommy.
I miss you, I know you can see.
Someday, it'll be just you and me.
I can't wait until I'll be set free.

PLZ vote and comment it is MUCH appreciated

Thanks for commenting on my poem, thought I'd repay the favour.

I agree with Mackenzie this poem does sound sincere and the words seem to fit well together. I imagine that there was a lot of thought out into this poem.

    Keep writing,
