Leaving Town

by Justin Groft   Jun 6, 2005

Turn the keys & put the lights on low
i sold my ties, took a chance at running
driving down a road known before
but the lines aren't quite as long
every town is a step towards something new

windows down i let the wind blow by
I'm on my way, not a day gone by
i left that town and i ain't going back
instead I'm counting on highway lines

to lead me where
the city lights are always shining
and i feel real
cause i dont belong here

picked my cards, rolled the dice this time
i started driving just to clear my mind
ain't got a dime or a place to go
but I'm packing up to leave
ill follow doors i opened on my own

to lead me where
the city lights are always shining
and i feel real
cause i dont belong here

i left the message on your phone
but the dial tone rang all night long
simple sign that we weren't going far
a name scratched on the wall
i walked outside
as the rain fell by the night

so lead me where
the city lights are always shining
and i feel real
cause i don't belong here
