In the long grass

by Fig   Jun 6, 2005

At the top of the field is where my heart lies
Where the long grass frames the shallow skies
Wade right in to the ocean of plants
Waist high around you, the seed heads dance

Crawl further in till you find the nest
The place your being last came to rest
Sink below the surface as the grasses tower tall
Sink down into the indent, like you never left at all

The living cushion envelops your head
And the ground is eager to mimic your bed
There are no nightmares when I'm in my own world
only visions and dreams, imagination unfurled

But there is a chance, a slim slight fear
an impostor may pierce my personal sphere
a bug or a beetle, a spider or bee
may cause me to flee my wilderness sea

But whilst i am here, no creature will dare
for i am alive and proud to declare
I'm Invisible, invincible my soul is at rest
for i have returned to my place and my nest

****************************
this poem does actually have a hidden meaning and I'm very interested to see if anyone can work out what it is, so please tell me if you think you know

p.s. its not a very good poem because i wrote it very quickly and its cheerful and i don't do many cheerful poems. If you don't like it, i don't care because i do! but please say if theres a reason why you don't like it, there may be things i can improve.

hi again! i noticed you like using the phrase "imagination unfurled" (i read your quotes). i like it because it's a good expression of the word, like you're comparing imagination to a flower, unfurling one petal at a time... really like it :)
