Evanescence

Plagued by shadows within the dawn
Hunting all that evil spawned.
Death will not die, til hand I hold close
Closer and closer than an overdose.

Riddles and fingers clutch at my skin
I'm sinking from where their teeth have been
Creased the diseased in a shattered pillow
Asleep in the breeze underneath a willow.

Pierced by shattering violence so prude
Awaking the silence so mourning and nude.
Try to be all the people can understand
But all that happens then is to sink in quicksand.

Repulsed by everything I see
Even the mirror into which I see
I don't see myself but what others have dressed
A fake little statue with a soul distressed

Throw the sun into the glass top
Feel the weight of reality drop
Skin so chilled with hair stood on end
No more fear for human nature to lend.

So preach the prayers to solve the night
Stop the tremors and child-like fright
Realize the permanence of all human thinking
Here, by these philosophical teeth...
