Graduate, Then Drink, Maybe...

by Jennifer   Jun 14, 2005

It's graduation night -
nothing wrong with a little fun
I hope I don't have to drive -
because I\\\'ve drank a ton.

Man, I'm feeling good -
nothing can touch me now;
I found out I gotta drive,
although I'm not sure how.

I won't drink for a while
hopefully I'll sober up...
I really hope this works
but damn, I'm to' up.

Get into my car
now it's time to go
I'll try to be real careful,
I'll try to drive real slow.

This is fun,
I knew we'd be OK -
What are those lights?
are they coming our way?

It all happens in slow motion,
as I close my eyes and pray
Please don't let this happen,
please don't let us die today.

Next thing I know
I'm laying in the street,
With my best friend's body
laying by my feet.

The Paramedics say:
"These kids just graduated,
but look at what's happened now,
wonder what they could have been?
We'll never find out now."

I can no longer breathe
I can no longer heal -
But this pain in my soul
that is what I feel.

I just heard that I killed 4 people
I feel my heart slow down,
I'll never see his smile again,
I'll never fix his frown.

I'm drowning in my own guilt
as I begin to cry.
I stop to pray real quick
before my blood runs dry.

Everyone, please forgive me,
I never meant to hurt anyone.
Our funerals will be soon,
please make sure you come.

I hope you get my message
now that you've read this -
This has happened to many,
and they will ALL be missed.

So make sure you tell your kids,
it's wrong to drink and drive...
The more people who know that
the more we'll keep alive.
