Through the Innocent’s Mind

by Andrea   Jul 2, 2005

The night goes on, but I beg and yell
As the thunder tries to drown out my cries.
Someone has got to hear me.
I am worried. I am scared.
Even more terrified of death.

He watches me in the corner.
Just stares as I scream for help
That will undoubtfully come.

The storm is getting worse outside,
But from within I am consumed with fear.
Why do I deserve this pain?

I cannot wipe my measly tears
As the stream down my cheeks.

I am chained lifelessly to this bed,
That will no doubt be my deathbed
Quite soon if no one comes.

He touches my face…

“No on is coming, my darling.”

…and I loathe him.

I try to loosen myself from the binds,
But end up failing miserably.
He smiles in my defeat.
I hate to know what he’s thinking
While he glares intently at me.

His face grows darker…fiercer.

Something is behind his back
That I hadn’t noticed before…

The steel shines and reflects
From the pitiful light in the room.
My breathing becomes faster.

He raises it high into the air…
Screaming I close my eyes tight…

The stormy night continues
But now less violent
Almost as if the treacherous storm
Encouraged the murderer…

But miles and miles away,
Civilization still remains unaware.
