One Minute too Late

by Symera   Jul 6, 2005

Babygirl's only eleven
but she's on the road to heaven.
She has the phone now and walks away,
this may be her last breath today.
Her sisters in her room but thinks of her.
She hears a noise in Mom's room, its not her.

She sees the papers fly and her heart drops.
There in the closet hanging from the top.
Babygirl breathe please their trying to save you!
Ebony's screaming "Iesha, I love You!"

They've got you down but your out of breath.
They do CPR and pump your chest.
Hang on Babygirl here are the police.
Its their fault they do this at the least.

They carry you out as I watch from a far.
I'm crying now Iesha and so is my heart.
There's chaos all around.
As your mom hears the news and falls to the ground.
But I'm on the phone but I can't make a sound.

I know it's the end I know your gone.
Over these months I've grown quite fond.

Eleven years young and I'm at your wake.
Funny how you can be one minute too late.
Aaliyah's sweet voice sings for you
both of them now only for you.
I walk up to you and my legs are weak.
My voice is the same I cannot speak.

I want to say I love you.
I want to say I care.
I want to say I'm sorry.
And I should have been there.

One minute too late and now your gone.
Now I'm sad when I hear your song.
Its been three months and your still not back.
I pray for you every night just to say that:

I love you Babygirl and your so pretty.
Virginia's for lovers, well not in this city.
I lost a sister to a crazy thought.
And I still reminisce about the love you bought.
One minute too late and now I'm missing you.
I love you Iesha and I wish to see you soon.

Dedicated to Miss Iesha A. Fowler 6-18-91 -- 4-18-03.

This is a great poem, i can feel so much pain. what happened? if u dont mind me asking can u tell me? i think this is one of the best poems i've ever read not becasue it is complex or simple or because it uses gd vocab but becasue it comes straight from the heart and you have poured your love and sorrow into and you have written without thinking of the end result and you have produced a masterpiece. i love it and i hope that u r ok now. 5/5
