We're Through

by Ariel   Jul 11, 2005

We were best friends
For almost ten years.
And then came the night
You had a few beers.

I didn't want to go to that party.
I didn't want to stay.
But you were persistant,
And you had your way.

You took a drink from someone
What could it have been?
Anything could happen,
There were so many men.

I can't believe the thing you did next.
I couldn't believe you'd do that to me.
I didn't do anything to you.
Why couldn't you see?

I was trying to save you,
To get you away from that place.
All you did to thank me
Was scream and spit in my face.

You ended up getting raped.
And mad at me.
You asked the same question
Repeatedly.

"Why didn't you get me away?
Why did you leave me?
None of this would have happened!
Don't you see?"

Well, friend, I got news for you.
You and me, we're through.

She was probably too drunk to understand what you were trying to do.
