Bloodthirsty need part 2

by backporchpoet   Aug 4, 2005

It rained the night you left the note
it was nothing compared to my tears
there was no time to grab my coat
I followed your footsteps to my fears

I hoped I’d find you before the knife
hoped I’d be able to bring you back
before you could screw up your life
and help you get it back on track

your footsteps led towards the river
it started roaring through my mind
doused in icy spray, I began to shiver
from my fear of what I might find

your salvation sparkled laying beside you
the water washed your crimson sins clean
I cradled you in my arms but I knew
I was too late for you and started to scream

your look of peace doesn’t end my strife
I want some nameless face to blame
but you were the only one holding the knife
for the last two cuts in your twisted game

I see you with me when I look in the mirror
chills go through me at what you had to do
but I hope you found what you didn’t see here
even if it means I have to keep missing you
