Girls, Sex, "Growing Up"...

by No Motiv?   Aug 20, 2005

There's a time in a girl's life,
When the truth remains unknown,

When words are written in flesh,
Before they're written in stone,

when the television begins to flirt
with it's tales of provocative lies

when the air is drowned in sound
with moaning and sighs

when magazines sell bodies,
and pictures own a girl's heart,

Before gossip and stories,
Tell a teen where to start,

When a girl is young enough,
Her ignorance protects her from bliss,

She pays no attention to the details
And signs that she'll miss

But after awhile,
The world will neglect to let her go,

Society will teach her what any girl
Should never know

Slowly, she'll let slip,
The days of her past

When sexual moments
Were hung at half mast,

She'll forget that imagining was
enough to entertain the mind,

soon negotiating her only identity,
while his contract is signed,

The girl will soon lose the image
She's forever seen in the mirror,

And the reflection of woman
Will soon become clear.

And she will barely regret,
What she has given to him,

Because society teaches that's what it takes,
To be happy within.
