Eternal Scars

by k i k i   Aug 22, 2005

Silhouettes above the candle light glow,
A glimpse of light, guiding my approach.
Tension of hate, grasping on to me tight.
Clenching a fist, blood boiling over,
Cementing a mould of my life, hard as a rock.
Never will I change.

No where to run ,
No where to hide.
I want to give in,
When there’s no explanation to outdo the finish line.
Emotions declining rapidly, nails jagged,
With a mountain of terror that must be conquered.

A sandcastle vanishing into water,
Breaking down gradually,
As I recede back to the past.
The ocean below, over flooding
With tears that have been
Laid to rest below my clawed feet.

Scars left from the blade that cut
An imprint to who I was before.
A zebra crossing of straight lines,
An indentation of defences;
Knots and crosses running deep.
Expressing my craft, I’m unique.

I am individual, in my own leather crust.
Now my stamp on history,
A landmark in time.
No turning back the rigid clock.
Never will the marks weaken, nor will the fear,
Now held within, under lock and key.

Memories of this will come undone,
A zip needs to be resewn.
A razor-sharp pain eased the hurt.
The light has now passed,
But I’m still left to clean up the wound,
And the mess that had me in tatters.
The scars left bleed eternally.
