Place a clock on my chest

by Fig   Aug 23, 2005

When i am dying, place a clock on my chest
so the sounds may echo the beats from my breast
and strengthen them
or set the pace
for my heart to beat at
my soul to embrace
the life in the sound
and cling with all might
may it pull me back to the light
of this life

let the steady beating tick and tock
resounding from the faithful clock
breathe for me
on my death bed
as it echoes around
my emptying head
or may the clock
set the beat
for my legs to march to
My pounding feet
out of this world
and on to
the next

so be by my side
on my dying day
place a clock on my chest
as I...
fade...
away...

Such an orginal subject! Well the death part isn't, but the whole clock ticking away thing is GREAT! It's sad but so simple and beautiful.....
