A Mask Of Bracelets

by xEmmax   Sep 5, 2005

A clown wears a mask
to make people laugh
it expresses a permanent smile,
beneath that disguise
he can easily hide
his true features for a while

When the mask is on
you can put on an act
play characters of your dreams,
no one will know
who you really are
just a smiling angel it seems

The girl who i was
is the mask which i wear
i can hardly remember her now,
this mask you don't see
covers the hurt inside me
though a fraction escaped somehow

Oh the torture I'd hear
the shouts and the jeers
if i left my wrists on show,
so like my face
a mask is in place
then no one can ever know

But then dear clown
when the circus leaves town
you can cast your mask aside,
our difference it stands
to shatter my plans
for these scars i cannot hide

So i spend the days
avoiding this gaze
i hate to see people stare,
only when I'm alone
can i trust to disown
this mask of bracelets i wear.
