To My Dear Brother

My dear brother
I love you more than life
but I know you'll never understand
why I cut my wrists with a knife

I never wanted to let you down
never wanted you to know my pain
I tried to keep it all inside
but the secrets made me go insane

There is no hope for me now
I am on my way to hell
sorry that you were the last to know
but to you I just couldn't tell

I have always looked up to you
you were my leading star
but look at your sister now
do you see all of my scars

When you tell me that I'm too thin
do you know that it hurts me too
that it breaks my heart within
to know that there's nothing I can do

I'm writing this poem for you
though it is very hard for me
because I love you so much
and I want to be the sister I use to be

*I wrote this for my loving brother, who just found out how depressed I am and that I have tried to commit suicide. I broke his heart and it is tearing me apart*

    It's tragic to disappoint the ones we love. Yet suicide is the most selfish thing a human can do; giving up on and leaving behind your loved ones. I can understand his depression. I can understand your dismay. I once attempted suicide as well. Good poem. Great job portraying your hurt and sadness.

    That was my favorite stanza :D I really liked the rhyme scheme in this poem. And the EMOTION... WOW. You got a way with words, hun! Keep it up!
