Angel.

by Jesse James   Oct 6, 2005

Rocking back and forth, alone,
She took me in her arms,
The wings of the angel covered me,
And I was protected from all harm,

She was my only light in darkness,
She slayed my demons one by one,
And healed my hidden wounds,
When my life, it came undone,

But now that she needs me,
The world has turned on her,
Our worlds have all but shattered,
Her secret whispers I can hear,

Her silent sorrow as she held me,
My shelter from the rain,
But now, in her eyes, I can see,
Those years of untold pain,

With all my heart I wish,
That she had never passed me by,
She would never have seen the need,
And the pleading in my eyes,

If I had never met her,
Maybe she could smile,
Maybe she could be herself,
Without feeling like a lie,

If ever there was something,
Worth dying for, it's her,
And if that's what it comes to,
I know, given choice, I'd prefer,

To give my life for something good,
Something that means so much,
The one thing in life that kept me sane,
That helped me stay in touch,

If this is what I was created to do,
Then with honor I stand my ground,
I'd stand up and give my life for you,
Because forever to you, I'm bound.

Love it, your writing reminds me so much of my own, but yours seem deeper, really easy to relate to.
