Standing Here Upon the Ridge

by Matt Carroll   Oct 18, 2005

Standing here upon the ridge
I am on the other side
The other side is for all those
Who have lost it all

Standing here upon the ridge
The darkness quickly closing in
An unbearable rage taking over
The last of the light inside me

Standing here upon the ridge
Watching over lost loved ones
Protecting them, but also knowing
That I could never return

Standing here upon the ridge
My tears now falling to the fire
Wishing I could once again
See my brothers smiling face

Standing here upon the ridge
Screaming at the shadowed sky
"You took my brother away from me!"
And a lot of friends have gone

Hiding in a corner of the ridge
The shadows already closed in
I've lost everything I liked
And those I truly loved

Sitting here upon the ridge
Everything I needed gone
Happiness, laughter, friends and love
All lost in the fire

Looking down from on the ridge
I am on the other side
I feel a gentle tap and turn
To see my brother standing there

In loving memory of:

Only leaving you bereaved. a harsh thing that has deprived you from your brother. and only in your thoughts and feelings can you remember...
