Social Worker

by Rosie   Nov 21, 2005

Curled up in the corner
Hearing him say to the social worker...
"Why would I do that to my own daughter?"
Couldn't she see the truth in my eyes?
How could she think it was all a pack of lies?
My mother is suffering cant you see?
You don't see what he does to mum at weekends and what he does to me
Im trying so hard to help mum
I don't know what to do
The only person to help us, believe it or not, is you
If you turn your back and walk straight out the door
I will do it my own way, we don't need this anymore
Everything I need is out of my comfort zone
If I want to get it I need to leave home
The social worker bows her head and closes her eyes
Puts down her clipboard
And begins to cry
"I cannot do anything for I need evidence"
Don't you understand?? This was our last chance!
She said "sorry" and drove away
Now I must make the most of my last day...

Hey girl, nice poem. I love this poem, it describes a situation, pretty brief situation, but with a lot of impact.

I can relate to it. It's very powerful. Easy writtin, easy to understand. I was a bit confused with the he's en she's, so I read it twice to get it.

Amazing poem. Keep up the good work girl. -xxx-
