A Guiding Light to Freedom

by ..eliSa*   Jan 28, 2006

I woke up but, I wasnt where I had fallen asleep.
I inhailed the most exotic sent of fresh air.
The sun was shining its rays upon my forehead.
It felt like a dream, as if I wasnt really there.

I wandered through a step stone path,
Each stone a vibrant colour I had never seen before.
The path ended before a stream flowing over velvet rocks
Where I was free to explore.

I stopped to in hale the aroma of the nature.
Creeping up my spine, I felt a soothing heat.
Then all of a sudden a bright light appeared
And swept me off my feet.

It carried me over the crystal stream,
Lifting me into the endless sky.
I felt weightless, beautiful and alive,
As I flew with hummingbirds and butterflies.

I was then lowered to the ground
Where I walked a few cautious steps, hesitating to go on.
I was then blinded by a crystal blue light.
My whole life flashed before me, and then it was gone.

The light slowly faded revealing an opening golden gate.
Paranoid, I slowly count the seconds; one, three, five, seven.
My eyes widened at the breathtaking sight.
So this is heaven?

I love your poems. They flow so easily, and your choice of words couldnt be better. They seem so perfect as if the words just came out of your mouth and onto the page without hesitation. I admire your work. I could sit down and read your poems for hours.
