Just One Step Too Far Behind

by Chris Harding   Feb 7, 2006

To look forward
Such a brave face
To conceive our own demise
In the wake of the progress
That inspires our dreams
Living with the weight
Of this atmospheric destruction
On the shoulders of the generations before you
To care when no-one else seems to
Fighting for what we dont really believe in
If this lack of actions
Is brought about
By the lack of appreciation
For the democracies we chose
We live in this self inflicted slavery
And yet we like to call ourselves free?
We might as well just roll over and die
As we let our dreams of freedom
Rot amongst these democratic lies
If all we could do for peace
Was stop to think what havoc
Our corporations reek
In a tit for tat money money world
Where ones scandal is anothers success
Is this all weve come to?
In a mad lust for power
Who cares if we cause others distress?
To succumb to the bizarre ideology
That we are after all, only human
If we are just a set of
Predefined natural responses
Then why do we live to dream
If we are only to die another day
Is this all it is?
If everything thats come to nothing
Could justify this pointless suffering
If all this lack of human feeling
Is meant to mean were losing something
Can this be real?
Its not what it seems
As the cold world of reality
Bears the death knell to our dreams
To grow up to be our own heroes
Of whatever calibre we could be
To save the world once again
Just like music saved me
