The Potential of Dreams

by Chris Harding   Feb 7, 2006

Do you know what we can become
As we live to breathe
And breathe to live
To try to realize our full potential
Under this black cloud of delusion
As we struggle against financial ruin
Our only through of selfish envy
As our peers become what we
Always wished we could be
Strong hearts buffered up against the darkness
As music provides solice for the tortured soul
An evolution through words as we grow and grow
If my one amibition was to prove them wrong
To achieve what they said I never could
To stand in the star studded glitz of success
The desire of everyone around
To all those girls who wish they\'d found me
Now I\'m out of reach on tv
A dream we\'ve all dreamed
From the darkest depths of the ghetto
To the otherside of this bedroom window
To idolize our teenage heroes
In a bid to usurp them from their glitzy thrones
A clear starry night
In my back garden
Stood amongst decembers cold frost
We dream to live
As we live amongst our dreams

Hey thanks, i know what you mean, but it's just, often i write and then decide like the rhythm after, or just leave it as one long continuous thought, and it's hard sometimes to find a pattern or a presentation of the text that doesn't destroy the flow of the poem. It's like being stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea sometimes. Thanks for the constructive criticism though, it's much appreciated, i'll bare it in mind next time i feel inspired :)

This was very thought provoking. Nicely penned.
