Day of Roses

by Lost Soul 691   Feb 7, 2006

The day is fast approaching
when we confirm our love
With cards and chocolate kisses
and a night of naughty fun

But why do people wait
for this one day of the year
Letting all the other moments
slip by without the cheer

The planning is essential
to outdo the times of past
Yet little things work best
not thought out in advance

The smiles you gave to me
most each and every day
Are joys that are bountiful
and mean more in every way

Days of lazy lounging
staying in bed for hours on end
Snuggled close and dreaming
until our thoughts were spent

Running a hot bath
fitting two into space for one
Feeling your hands wash over
not leaving a place undone

Passing in the hall
as the daily routines went by
A light pat on the rump
lets me know you're by my side

So what will this year bring
on such a special day
Roses and champagne
and a love that will always stay

I'll put on something lacy
and turn the lights down low
Slip between the sheets
and wait for my tears to slow

For this will be the first year
to celebrate on my own
But Honey you'll be with me
if God will grant me my loan

I like this. I recently had a super long relationship ended. I miss these aspects of my relationship with him. I'm just not good enough I guess.
But I like this poem. It is good.

You have an amazing gift of compleatly flipping a poem around in the last few stanzas. it really makes you want to re-read the poem
