I could not understand

When I was small
You came a long way
just to see me
I could not understand
What made you race a long distance
As you approached near me
You just remained staring at me
You held my hands
You touched my chicks
I, innocently, was staring at you,too
You laid me on your lap
and fondled my head
The warmth made me fast asleep
drop, like of water, fell on my face
That made my eyes open
I watched your countenance
Your eyes were watery, tears trickling
Your lips were shaking
I still could not understand

Then, came the time of departing
You hugged me and loved me
requesting and suggesting
....do that and do that not.......
You lingered as if
You wanted to stay forever by my side
Hardly, you left me
You turned back again and again.
No sooner, lost from my sight
Then, darkness surrounded my heart
teardrops in my eyes
But still, I could not understand.
